Simulating Physics

physics

People like to touch things, throw things, break things, crank things, shoot things, swing things, and bounce things.  Using a physics system in an online environment caters to these innate human fascinations and delivers it where they least expect.

Physics can be very complicated. Fortunately we don’t need to be physicists to know how to use a physics engine.

Simple Physics Systems:

Formal Actionscript Physics Engines:

APE (Actionscript Physics Engine) is the easiest to use and widely used as3 physics system.  It allows you to create rectangle, circle, and wheel particles and add constraints to form larger and more elaborate physics objects. For example the strings in the header flash file of this page is a series of invisible particles with lines that are redrawn every frame between each of the particles.

Box2DAs3 is a great engine but suffers from little documentation or resources and thus is not for the faint of heart
