Generative Art with Actionscript

generator

Generative Art relies on autonomous processes like computer algorithms to create itself. Quite often randomness (see tutorial) plays a role in defining the properties of the images. Here are some examples of generative art created with actionscript:

1. In the FlashArt tutorial on Loops the example project makes flash generate a vector scribble drawing that is unique each time it is run.

2. Swarm Example w/ Source :: Tiny A.I. creatures follow your mouse. Coded with actionscript 3.

4. Joshua Davis <- poster boy for generative art using actionscript. He also writes books on coding.

5. Erik Natzke :: Takes a stunning painterly approach to programming images.

I tried the Generative Art Tutorial… downloaded all the support files and the PDF but the instruction is really vague.
    eg.
    3. “you’ll need to import the above classes” (from where?)
    4. “after inputting the code” (from where?)

I’m not really sure how to get started. Anyone else try this?
